New Blog Layout: I'm mad. Your mad. We're all mad. . .

If you have been here before, you probably have noticed my new blog design! I really think this is it. I'm sticking with this one for as long as I can. If you are wondering why I've changed it, it mainly had to do with my finickiness over getting some sharing buttons coded exactly right. It also had to do with the fact that I think that the text on background is a whole lot easier to read, and this template is more flexible than my old one when it comes to tweaking colors.

Plus! The theme is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Which in and of itself makes me quite pleased. It also reflects how I feel as I meander through life and my writing.

Which reminds me, if you haven't already, check out Natalie Babbitt's essay, "We're All Mad Here." It's one of my all time favorites, and I'm so tired at the moment I'm not going to explain why. Besides, I probably wouldn't do her justice if I tried (especially as I'm having a hard time keeping my eyes open). Please check it out on your own and tell me what you think of it if you can. :)

Q. Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from? I know they are dead, but since this is a hypothetical question to begin with, I would vote for Mark Twain, Carl Sagan, and J. R. R. Tolkien. Hands down. I don't know how much talking I would do. I would just sit down and listen to them say fabulous things.  Q. What’s the ONE GENRE that you wish you could get into, but just can’t? Romance. For instance, even after trying to enjoy it, I have never been a Jane Austen fan. I find the Mr. Darcy obsession intriguing but I just think it's all boring. Oh man. I love a lot of the same stuff I loved as a teen. But that doesn't mean my reading habits haven't changed, they have. I think they've changed for the better. E-Reading in the Bathtub?

Okay, so a lot of people say that e-readers never will replace print because they just, well, love paper books so much. I get it. When I get a new hardbound book and crack open the cover for the first time, the smell is intoxicating. I swear publishers put some kind of drug in the book binding glue to make it so addictive. But I also love my e-reader, and have been using it more and more... and in some cases, I'm preferring it over some paper books (because it isn't as heavy). Also, in June 2011, adult paperback books plunged 64% from last year, while e-book sales went up 161 percent . This suggests that while many hardcover books are still being purchased (though it dropped 25 % in the same month), people who just want to read a book for the sake of the words, and not the format (i.e. paperback readers), are starting to gravitate towards e-books. Libraries have growing digital collections, and some libraries have already started lending e-readers . I think in the future,
