Feature and Follow and Blogger Hop Friday 7/22
Q. Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?I know they are dead, but since this is a hypothetical question to begin with, I would vote for Mark Twain, Carl Sagan, and J. R. R. Tolkien. Hands down. I don't know how much talking I would do. I would just sit down and listen to them say fabulous things.
Romance. For instance, even after trying to enjoy it, I have never been a Jane Austen fan. I find the Mr. Darcy obsession intriguing but I just think it's all boring. There is such a huge following for romance, however, and a lot of good stuff out there I'm sure. And even though I have a difficult time liking the genre, every now and then I'm pleasantly surprised.
I prefer my romance novels usually mixed in with another genre rather than just reading pure romance fiction.

ReplyDeleteI don't like this one either! Romance is okay as a sub-genre like to historical fiction but I don't ever choose romance for itself.

How funny - I really don't like romances, but I do like Jane Austen. So, maybe I just don't like contemporary romances? They're too cheesy/predictable/graphic for me.

I write romance, but I like to think my stories have more than that in them - interesting characters and situations, often a mix of other genres, whether paranormal or historical. Most of what I write is m/m but not all of it.

Susan- Yeah, I find most modern romances cheesy. However I don't mind a steamy scene now and then :)
Alison- World building is a huge thing with fantasy. It is really important for fantasy writers to seriously study Tolkien. He is basically the father of modern fantasy!
Becky- Oh! I'm not familiar with those authors. But I am interested. You have to tell me more about them!
Jess- No problem! I don't have to have romance in a book, but I can handle it in small bits in other kinds of books. :)

I like stories with romances but I need a real plot there. I stopped reading adult romances because so many of them started with a relationship breaking up.

I am not into romance much either!
I wasn't into romance for the longest time. I think it was about my age though. In the past six months I've started reading some, and I really like it, but I could never only read romance. Jane Austen, I've been reading for years and I love her so much. She's just so clever!

BookBelle- Sagan was an astrophysicist who wrote a lot of books on the cosmos and the evolutionary history of the human race. He did it in a way that was fascinating and really made you feel awesome inside. I just love his stuff.
