A. I just download Fury by Elizabeth Miles from the Simon and Schuster Galley Grab and I am so excited to read it! Mainly because the cover looks freaking awesome.



Q. Character Envy: If you could be one character from a book, who would you choose & why?


A. Well, as per the theme of my blog, I already connect a lot with Alice. But since I already feel like her at times, if I could be anyone, it would be Kahlan Amnell from the Sword of Truth series. She's hot. She's powerful. And she kicks ass.

    You should definitely be a librarian. It's the best job ever. Right now, I'm on an indefinite library sabbatical but I miss the job thoroughly.

    I’m seeing a lot of single answer responses with Twilight being by far the most popular choice.   I really must analyze all the elements of that series that send girls ga-ga.  Such studies are  a part of the never-ending "code breaking” we males need to continuously execute to understand and relate with the fairer sex.

    I’ve cracked about 80% of the code.  I will continue cracking the code until I reach 100% success.  Then I’ll write a  book for men and become a billionaire overnight.

    BUT I DIGRESS....

    I’ve got four different series I can read over and over again.  Three of them were written by deceased authors and three of them are fantasy adventures.

    Please don't use the Twilight formula. It is really bad that girls idolize a creepy, controlling, stalker boyfriend in Edward Cullen. ;)

    Also, girls are people with nuance and depth that can't be contained in any sort of code. But I think I see what you mean.

    Our patriarchal society reinforces subjugation in girls, and idolizes girls with passive personalities who will just live for a man who is there to control and "protect" them. Q. Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from? I know they are dead, but since this is a hypothetical question to begin with, I would vote for Mark Twain, Carl Sagan, and J. R. R. Tolkien. Hands down. I don't know how much talking I would do. I would just sit down and listen to them say fabulous things.  Q. What’s the ONE GENRE that you wish you could get into, but just can’t? Romance. For instance, even after trying to enjoy it, I have never been a Jane Austen fan. I find the Mr. Darcy obsession intriguing but I just think it's all boring. There is such a huge following for romance, however, and a lot of good stuff out there I'm sure. And even though I have a difficult time liking the genre, every now and then I'm pleasantly surprised.

Oh man. I love a lot of the same stuff I loved as a teen. But that doesn't mean my reading habits haven't changed, they have. I think they've changed for the better. When I was a teen, I was only into fantasy fiction, today, I'm into all sorts of crazy things like books about philosophy, sociology, psychology, religion, science, etc. I've also broadened my fiction reading into not just fantasy, but regular fiction as well.   Q. E-Reading in the Bathtub?

Okay, so a lot of people say that e-readers never will replace print because they just, well, love paper books so much. I get it. When I get a new hardbound book and crack open the cover for the first time, the smell is intoxicating. I swear publishers put some kind of drug in the book binding glue to make it so addictive. But I also love my e-reader, and have been using it more and more... and in some cases, I'm preferring it over some paper books (because it isn't as heavy). Also, in June 2011, adult paperback books plunged 64% from last year, while e-book sales went up 161 percent . This suggests that while many hardcover books are still being purchased (though it dropped 25 % in the same month), people who just want to read a book for the sake of the words, and not the format (i.e. paperback readers), are starting to gravitate towards e-books. Libraries have growing digital collections, and some libraries have already started lending e-readers . I think in the future,
