Q. How has your reading habits changed since you were a teen? or If you are still a teen what new genres are you in love with currently?

Oh man. I love a lot of the same stuff I loved as a teen. But that doesn't mean my reading habits haven't changed, they have. I think they've changed for the better. When I was a teen, I was only into fantasy fiction, today, I'm into all sorts of crazy things like books about philosophy, sociology, psychology, religion, science, etc. I've also broadened my fiction reading into not just fantasy, but regular fiction as well.

I got it when Borders was closing a few months back. Haven't read it but the cover and title was rather interesting to me.



One final announcement: I will be doing a guest post at Trish's blog, Just a YA Girl, next week. I'm excited (and a little nervous), as it will be my first guest post. I'm also a little concerned it might blow some faces off with its sheer awesomeness.

It's scheduled to go up on Tuesday. After my guest post over there, I'm planning on moving my regular Thursday library posts to Tuesdays, and my book reviews to Thursdays. (This way I won't have a post going up the same day I'm doing Follow Friday fun stuff.)

    Wow. I wish I could read all those different types of books. I'm still in the fiction is best, especially fantasy stage. Someday, I'll outgrow it. ;)

    I'm seriously impressed by anyone who was a reader in high school. I definitely had to grow into my love of books! Also, it is the smallest world, but my illustrator husband Rusty went to school with your illustrator husband. (We found this out when I clicked on the link to his blog in your about page. I promise I'm not a crazy stalker. Just the regular type.) (I'm totally kidding.)

    Interesting!  I went in the opposite direction.  Over time I narrowed down my focus to fantasy mainly, though I do still read other things.  I guess it's more like I figured out what hits my awesome button more often than not?

    Anyway, I found you through Follow Friday and I'm a new subscriber.  I like your library posts!  They're really handy dandy.  I'm a library page and have been hoping to enlighten readers about aspects of library-ing as well.  (But your posts are much more fun.)  And I'm currently reading The Magicians!  Are you liking it?  I am loving it.  Like, it keeps surprising me!  So awesome.

    Anyway, just wanted to say hi!  Looking forward to reading more from you and poking around your blog.  :)

    I still haven't started the Magicians, I'm still finishing up Ashfall but I can't wait to start it! I love how I pre-emptively put it up. lol

    Thanks for your compliments about my library posts. That's awesome that you are a page. That's how I started out in libraries. 

    And I'm so glad you figured out what hit your "awesome button." A lot of times people stop reading entirely because they never discover what hits theirs!

Q. Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from? I know they are dead, but since this is a hypothetical question to begin with, I would vote for Mark Twain, Carl Sagan, and J. R. R. Tolkien. Hands down. I don't know how much talking I would do. I would just sit down and listen to them say fabulous things.  Q. What’s the ONE GENRE that you wish you could get into, but just can’t? Romance. For instance, even after trying to enjoy it, I have never been a Jane Austen fan. I find the Mr. Darcy obsession intriguing but I just think it's all boring. E-Reading in the Bathtub?

Okay, so a lot of people say that e-readers never will replace print because they just, well, love paper books so much. I get it. When I get a new hardbound book and crack open the cover for the first time, the smell is intoxicating. I swear publishers put some kind of drug in the book binding glue to make it so addictive. But I also love my e-reader, and have been using it more and more... and in some cases, I'm preferring it over some paper books (because it isn't as heavy). Also, in June 2011, adult paperback books plunged 64% from last year, while e-book sales went up 161 percent . This suggests that while many hardcover books are still being purchased (though it dropped 25 % in the same month), people who just want to read a book for the sake of the words, and not the format (i.e. paperback readers), are starting to gravitate towards e-books. Libraries have growing digital collections, and some libraries have already started lending e-readers . I think in the future,...
